Truthfulness and Honesty - Compiled by Vishnukanta das from books and lectures of Srila Prabhupada

Truthfulness is glorified in all scriptures and by all great personalities.

There is nothing more sinful than untruthfulness. Because of this mother earth once said, "I can bear any heavy thing except a person who is a liar." SB 8.20.4

One who speaks dharma must know the truth.  The knower of truth is one who sees through all deception. Manu Smriti

If a brahmana is not truthful, all his claims as a brahmana at once become null and void. SB 1.17.41 purport

A brahmana will speak truth even to his enemy. If the enemy comes, if a rogue comes, “How much money you have got in your box?” a brahmana will say, “Sir, I have got one hundred dollars.” (Laughs) Just like the other day, in the Customs examination in Bombay, our Brahmänanda Mahäräja was asked, “What is the value?” “No, I have purchased it.” “What is the value?” “Two hundred dollars.” He did not say that “I am using it for long time.” No. “It is new. I have purchased.” That’s all right. Srimad-Bhagavatam Lecture 1.5.22 Vrindavan, August 3, 1974

Devotees of Lord should speak truth always. Honesty means truthfulness, and also fairness in dealing with others, and not engaging in fraud or deceit. It means no hidden motives and therefore no duplicity in dealings. An honest person will never misstate, misrepresent, or hide the truth from others so as to gain an unfair advantage over them.

Someone who is not honest or straightforward will not be trusted by others. Especially, such a person will not be accepted as a devotee. Therefore those who purport to teach the highest truth, being a devotee of Lord, should at least be considered reliable in ordinary, wordly matters.

Another facet of truthfulness is to keep promises. This applies to everyday obligations, such as agreeing to meet a person at a certain time, as well as major commitments, such as the vows of initiation. It is reprehensible to promise something that one has no intention of fulfilling.

Devotees are honest in regard to their own shortcomings and do not present themselves as more advanced than they actually are for the sake of maintaining false prestige. If a devotee makes a mistake (as all people are prone to do), he should not compound it by trying to deny or hide the error or by making excuses. Rather, he should be willing to claim responsibility for his negligence, and take steps to rectify himself and solve any problems caused by the mistake. This is a symptom of integrity, and a cornerstone of good character. In Vedic culture, a brahmana does not lose his position by making a mistake, but by being untruthful.

It is sometimes argued that in preaching, the end justifies the means, and that therefore a book distributor or preacher may tell a lie in order to engage a person in Krishna's service. This is not untrue, but Srila Prabhupada was also aware of the harmful effects this could have. He therefore advised devotees to preach without resorting to roundabout means.

We may do anything for Krishna, but that is supposed to be reserved for very advanced experts in Krishna Consciousness—they know how to catch the big fish without themselves getting wet. So it is not very much advisable to make lies just to sell a book. If we simply stick to describing how wonderful is Krishna, then whatever we may lie or exaggerate, that will not be a lie! But other things, lies, they will not help us to train ourselves in truthfulness. Lie to some, not to others—that is not a good philosophy. Rather the brahmanas are always truthful, even to their enemies. There is sufficient merit in our books that if you simply describe them sincerely to anyone, they will buy. That art you must develop—not art of lying. Convince them to give by your preaching the Absolute Truth, not by tricking. That is the more mature stage of development of Krishna Consciousness.  Letter to Sri Govinda, 25 December, 1972

We may take money for Krsna using any method of beg, borrow and steal, but the more advanced understanding of Krsna consciousness process is by telling the truth in a very palatable way. That is the most successful system…We may tell any damn thing to induce people to give us money on Krsna's behalf—that is not the point. The point is that by saying lies, the less advanced neophyte devotees may become entangled or disturbed in their minds by it. Of course by their collecting more money and giving to Krsna, He will relieve them of all anxiety of telling lies. But not everyone is able to catch the big fish without themselves becoming wet. Letter to Bali-mardana, 31 December, 1972

These dishonest methods must be stopped. It is hampering our reputation all over the world. Money collected for feeding people in India should be collected under the name ISKCON Food Relief. Not any other name. And every farthing of that money must be sent to India, or better yet, buy food grains there and ship them here and we will distribute. But every farthing collected for that purpose must be used for that purpose. Letter to: Rupanuga -- Bombay 9 January, 1975

Discretion
Truthfulness should be tempered with discretion. For instance, it is generally unadvisable that a senior devotee experiencing spiritual difficulties reveal them to subordinates, lest their delicate faith in Kåñëa consciousness be endangered. A senior devotee in difficulty would be better advised to make known his exigency to a trusted peer, who is anyway more likely to be able to help him.

There is also no need to divulge the truth of others’ failings if no-one will benefit by doing so. Indeed, to unnecessarily and continually dwell on others’ faults is a form of prajalpa that is most destructive both to the speaker and hearers.

Discretion should also be exercised in revealing internal policies and problems of devotees to outsiders, or even to devotees who are not fully commited. Not everyone is meant to know everything, nor can everyone understand everything, nor is everything everybodies business. Although some modern psychological theories advocate complete openness in everything, the Vedic sages do not recommend such impractical liberality.
Certain circumstances may even warrant deliberate hiding of the truth.

In flattering a woman to bring her under control, in joking, in a marriage ceremony, in earning one’s livelihood, when one’s life is in danger, in protecting cows and brahminical culture, or in protecting a person from an enemy’s hand, falsity is never condemned. SB 8.19.43

Vaishnava Seva explained by Srila Prabhupada - Compiled by Vishnukanta das

VAISNAVA SEVA
Compilation of important points from Srila Prabhupada's books & lectures by Vishnukanta das

Those who serve Krishna’s devotees are declared to win Krishna’s favor compared to those who serve Him directly.

Krishna is so kind that He keeps His devotees more honorable than Himself. And He recommends to the devotees that mad-bhakta-püjäbhyadhikä: “My dear devotees, take it for granted that if you worship My devotees, that is more than My devotional service.” Krishna recommends—and actually that is the fact, that Krishna is more pleased. It is very natural. Just like one gentleman he has got a little child, and if you try to please that little child, that gentleman automatically becomes pleased. You can please the child with two-cent-worth lozenges, and if the child is laughing and very pleased, his father immediately becomes pleased. But if you want to please the father, you will require at least two hundred dollars. So you can finish two hundred dollars’ business with two cents. Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.9.8 -- Montreal, July 2, 1968

Krsna Himself serves His devotees.

Lord Krishna seated His friend Sudämä upon the bed. Then the Lord, who purifies the whole world, personally offered him various tokens of respect and washed his feet, O King, after which He sprinkled the water on His own head. He aNecter Of Instructionnted him with divinely fragrant sandalwood, aguru and kuìkuma pastes and happily worshiped him with aromatic incense and arrays of lamps. After finally offering him betel nut and the gift of a cow, He welcomed him with pleasing words. By fanning him with her cämara, the divine goddess of fortune personally served that poor brahmana, whose clothing was torn and dirty and who was so thin that veins were visible all over his body. The people in the royal palace were astonished to see Krishna, the Lord of spotless glory, so lovingly honor this shabbily dressed brahmana. Srimad Bhagavatam 10.80.20-24

Krishna becomes satisfied with those who serve His devotees.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ancient, eternal Godhead, who is foremost amongst all great personalities, obtained the opulence of His staunch reputation, which purifies the entire universe, by worshiping the lotus feet of those brahmanas and Vaishnavas. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is everlastingly independent and who exists in everyone’s heart, is very pleased with those who follow in His footsteps and engage without reservation in the service of the descendants of brahmanas and Vaishnavas, for He is always dear to brahmanas and Vaishnavas and they are always dear to Him. SB 4.21.38-9
From the personal example of Sri Närada Muni in his previous birth, it is clear that the service of the Lord begins with the service of the Lord’s bona fide servants. The Lord says that the service of His servants is greater than His personal service. Service of the devotee is more valuable than the service of the Lord. One should therefore choose a bona fide servant of the Lord constantly engaged in His service, accept such a servant as the spiritual master and engage himself in his (the spiritual master’s) service.  SB 1.5.23 purport
It is said that the Lord is most pleased when He sees one engage in the service of His devotee. He does not need any service from anyone because He is complete, but it is in our own interest to offer all kinds of services to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. These services can be offered to the Supreme Person not directly but through the service of brahmanas and Vaishnavas…Srila Vishvanatha Cakravarti Thakur also says, yasya prasädäd bhagavat-prasädaù: by satisfying the senses of the spiritual master, one can satisfy the senses of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.  SB 4.21.39 purport

The entire Vedas and all shastras glorify the service to devotees of Lord.

Those who serve the Vaisnavas who are always engaged in worshipping Hari and chant the holy name of Hari attain the supreme destination, even if they are sinful. [Brihanaradi Puran]

One should always serve the Vaisnavas with great respect and with every possible means. By serving the Vaisnavas one can cross all miserable conditions. [Padma Puran]

Prahlada Maharaja told Bali Maharaja, "Those who sing the glory of the Vaisnavas early in the morning every day are the greatest devotees in this age of the Kali - they are as good as Sri Krishna." [Dvarka Mahatva]

Sri Krishna told Arjuna, “You should serve and worship only the Vaisnavas. Do not worship any demigod, because there is no need. The Vaisnavas can purify all the demigods and the entire world…Those who serve Me only are not My devotees, but those who are devotees of My devotees, recognize them as the greatest devotees." [Adi Puran]

The Srimad Bhagavatam (5.2.2) states that service to devotees opens the door to liberation. Similarly,
By regular service to the brahmanas and Vaishnavas, one can clear the dirt from his heart and thus enjoy supreme peace and liberation from material attachment and be satisfied. SB 4.21.40

Clarifications for blog titled 'Questionable activities of Vishnukanta Pr' by Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das

This is a simple post clarifying the false accusations on Vishnukanta das by a certain person who has been trying to harass him and several other devotees in Bangalore for the past few years. His name is Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das (L Narasimhan Rau or Lakshmi Narasimhan) and he has written several pages of false information about Vishnukanta das only for the purpose of defaming his character. Clarifications for his fake accusations and the reality about his true nature are provided in this blog. As a devotee or aspiring devotee in Iskcon, it's very painful to read about criticisms and clarifications but in order to provide the alternate perspective which can help readers to get the big, true picture, this information has been presented here.

It is important to note that whatever complaints or criticisms Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das has on Vishnukanta das are purely his own and are not endorsed by any Iskcon temple authority. The proof of this statement is that even though he has written his complaints about Vishnukanta das to all the temple presidents in Bangalore Iskcon temples, under the GBC, to the spiritual master of Vishnukanta das, the RGB of south India and several other senior devotees, none of the authorities have given any importance to Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das's accusations nor contacted Vishnukanta das to get clarifications for any of the complaints. This is because his complaints have no basis except for envy and insecurity that he has towards a certain section of devotees in the congregation.

If anyone wants to verify if there is any truth in the accusations made by Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das, they can contact the Iskcon authorities:

Temple Presidents in Iskcon Bangalore (under GBC):
HG Varada Krishna Prabhu: vkd.jps@gmail.com
HG Sudhir Caitanya Prabhu: sudhir.caitanya.jps@pamho.net
HG Narahari Prabhu: narakesari@hotmail.com

South India RGB:
HG Dayaram Prabhu: Dayaram.JPS@pamho.net

Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das sent several emails containing various accusations and complaints on Vishnukanta das and other devotees for a period of 2 years or more. Now, since his purpose of taking some action against Vishnukanta das through a temple authority could not be fulfilled, Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das has created a blog to accuse him and paint a bad picture about him to the whole world for his personal satisfaction. This blog is not written with any grudge against him; at the same time, since it's our duty to clarify and provide the real facts behind his criticisms, all the points have been explained below. His blog post about Vishnukanta das is found in quitfakingseektruth.blogspot.com. Although he hasn't revealed his identity, he has posted all the emails in his blog that he had sent from his email id - narasimhan@absolutetruth.in.

He starts his blog with this introduction:

"Here is a chronological record of email communicationation on this subject. This has been made public at the request of his counselor for those who are concerned about Vishnukantha Das or Venugopal Ananthakrishnan."

This introduction itself is absolutely false. Vishnukanta das’s counselor is HG Shankarpandit Prabhu of Pune. Anyone who wants to verify if this statement in his blog is true or false can directly confirm with Shankarpandit prabhu by writing to his email id - shankarpanditdas@gmail.com.

It appears that Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das wants to make the readers believe that the information he had posted in his blog is authentic by saying that he had posted on the request of Vishnukanta das’s counselor. But Vishnukanta das’s counselor was neither aware of such a post nor did he ever request Lakshmi Nrsimha das to create a blog about him. As mentioned, anyone is free to check with Vishnukanta das’s counselor Shankarpandit prabhu whether he requested Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das to post about Vishnukanta das or not.

He further says in his blog:

"WHAT IS THE PROBLEM
The Problem is that Vishnukanta Prabhu who claims to do BBT's english translation of Goswami's work and assisting Bhagavat vidyapeetam which normally requires devotees of impeccable character of the likes of HG Gopiparanadhana Prabhu is faking his scholarship and his achara (behaviour) doesn't match his said qualifications. In the greater interest of ISKCON this information is made available to public. HG Vishnukanta Das has acknowledged that all the below events are true but he claims that its being misinterpreted. But there are solid evidences to prove his questionable activities. If anyone needs more details please email Vishnukantha Pr himself madhuananth@gmail.com and copy truelies@activist.com."

This note about Vishnukanta das’s translation work or acknowledging the events are also absolutely false.  Although many years back, he was getting some basic training from the late HG Gopiparanadhana prabhu for BBT translation work, assisting him and HH Bhanu Swami in few of the translation work in 2006-2007, Vishnukanta das never officially took up any translation service in BBT and Vishnukanta das never told Lakshmi Nrsimha das or any other devotee that he was involved in any official translation project for BBT for the purpose of publishing books. If anyone wants to verify this truth, they can very well confirm with BBT by writing to the director of BBT HG Bhima prabhu at his email id - bhima.acbsp@pamho.net or contact BBT in their website http://www.bbt.info/about/contact. Vishnukanta das never acknowledged any truth in the events that Lakshmi Nrismha had described below since all of them have been simply cooked up by Lakshmi Nrsimha das for the sheer purpose of criticizing Vishnukanta das out of some grudge or hatred that he had developed.

Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das had tactfully avoided the relevant sections of Vishnukanta das’s email replies to his emails and had posted only some portions that he could comfortably use to criticize. The latest email that Vishnukanta das had sent is provided below in order to clarify Vishnukanta das’s stance.

Subject: Re: Questionable activities of Vishnukantha Pr & Guru Groupism in Bangalore

Dear Lakshmi Nrsimha pr,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Thank you pr, for your concern for me. Based on the discussions in the chain mail, it does not seem to be a healthy conversation. I do agree that I have certain imperfections which I have to work on, however I cannot accept the allegations to the statements made by you. They seem to have all been taken out of context & misinterpreted. I do not wish to continue the argument, by again trying to explain in detail.

As I mentioned in my previous email, I am more than willing to explain each instance in detail to the authorities, if they have any questions for me.

I have no intentions in hurting you, however if you feel hurt by any of my words/actions/behaviour, please forgive me. From the way the discussion is growing, it would be safe for both of us, to maintain safe distance from each other, rather than continue our arguments back and forth & unnecessarily increase our emotional expressions towards each other.

your servant,
Vishnukanta das

This is last email from Vishnukanta das in this thread which Lakshmi NrsimhaDev had deliberately avoided including in the post in his blog.

Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das replied to this email on Jan 18th 2013. Apart from repeating the same thing that he had mentioned multiple times in his previous email, Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das had now accused all the authorities in Iskcon bangalore for not taking any action on Vishnukanta das and other devotees that he had been writing again and again. In his own words:

Subject: Re: Questionable activities of Vishnukantha Pr & Guru Groupism in Bangalore

Respected Prabhus/Maharajas,

Nevertheless no one wants to talk on Brand building exercise within ISKCON Bangalore community against GBC injunction on how devotees should be encouraged to select a guru (see attached document on GBC resolution for 2012 & GBC position). Bangalore temple was following siksha system to make it an open unbiased path for devotees to progress towards choosing one's guru without undue persuasion or marketing. But some groups don't make themselves accountable to it. I kindly request authorities to intervene and eradicate guru groupism for ever before its too late. We have been victims of this syndrome for a long time, nice devotees are weaned away from temple and cultivated separately. Their loyalty is elsewhere. And devotees make fun of us saying Bangalore is transit point etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's evident from the absence of any action taken by the temple authorities in Bangalore which Lakshmi Nrismha Dev das is lamenting about, that whatever complaints that he has on Vishnukanta das and other devotees are purely his own and not endorsed by any of the temple authorities.

In his blog post, Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das had repeated the same information again and again in same & different words probably because he feels when someone reads the same points repeatedly they might end up believing them. One example is the set of points under the subject "Brand Building Based on Illustrious Gurus". It's clear from this deliberate baseless repetition that he has developed very intense envy and hatred against one class of devotees, who are disciples or aspiring disciples of a "Illustrious Guru" whom he is referring to.

His accusations on Vishnukanta das are classified under the following topics and clarifications provided for them in detail. Since he had repeated the same accusations at multiple places throughout his huge post, consolidated clarifications for the accusations are provided below.

Accusation 1: About Vishnukanta das’s Marriage and Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das's forcing his wife to take initiation from HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj

Lakshmi Narasimha das and few other devotees were extremely eager to inspire Vishnukanta das’s wife to consider HH JPS as her spiritual master and take initiation from him only. She was pulled in to attend the JSSS meetings every time in the garb of hearing glories of a pure devotee while being brainwashed to take initiation from HH JPS Maharaj alone. When Vishnukanta das came to know about this, he had reported the issue to few senior devotees and the devotees in Diksha Counsel and they had warned against any such activities. But Lakshmi Narasimha pr did not listen to the warnings and had been actively doing the same immature activity all these years.

In order to hide this truth, Lakshmi Nrsimha das has turned the story upside-down by accusing Vishnukanta das of lying and fixing the marriage. At the first place, HG Radha priya mataji was not involved at all in fixing his marriage. It was through HG Amala Manjari mataji was he introduced to his wife. If anyone wants to clarify and confirm this, they can contact Amala manjari mataji at this email id - amalamanjarijps@gmail.com.

Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das has also indulged in forgery and treacherous means to threaten Vishnukanta das and his wife for his cooked up accusations against him. This is evident from the following incident.

Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das’s forgery and treacherous plan to threaten Vishnukanta das
Vishnukanta das’s wife got an email from Amala Manjari mataji (from an email ID that had her name) through Radhanath Swami Disciple Network. Amala Manjari mataji had known Vishnukanta das for many years and only through her Vishnukanta das got introduced to his wife who also knew mataji for few years. That email contained the same set of false accusations and criticisms asking Vishnukanta das’s wife to criticize and correct him in a heavy negative tone. The list of complaints the email contained was exactly the same as that Vishnukanta das had received from Lakshmi Nrsimha das.

It was rather unbelievable for Vishnukanta das and his wife because Amalamanjari mataji was very close to them and that mataji couldn't have just believed whatever she might have heard from Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das without hearing the other side from Vishnukanta das. Vishnukanta das’s wife discovered a new twist in the story while she was chatting with Amalamanjari Mataji. Mataji happened to be completely unaware of all these things that had happened about the email which had come from an ID with her name. When they looked at that email, actually that had come from RNS Disciples Network with the same name as Amala Manjari DD but there were 2 IDs in the Radhanath Swami Disciples Network with the name as Amala Manjari DD and that email had come from the fake one as the real mataji was clueless of what was going on.

And that fake ID was treacherously created by Lakshmi Nrsimha das temporarily with an intention of convincing Vishnukanta das’s wife to criticize and correct him for whatever concerns Lakshmi Nrsimha das has on him. It’s evident that Lakshmi Nrismha Dev das was behind this forgery was that the email had 100% the same content as the emails that he had been sending Vishnukanta das. This story shows that when a person, even after chanting the Maha Mantra for 15 years or more, can do treacherous and illegal activities thereby showing his deeply contaminated consciousness if he is being burnt by the flame of envy and hatred.

This is a picture of Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das (L Narasimhan Rau or Lakshmi Narasimhan)
Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das is a self-appointed authority for many devotees including Vishnukanta das. However, his imposed authority on the devotees is not endorsed by any Iskcon temple nor any devotees "under" his supervision.

Accusation 2: About Vishnukanta das’s propaganda of wrong conceptions on HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj.

This is again another of the misconstrued and baseless complaints on Vishnukanta das. The fact is Lakshmi Nrsimha Dev das has zero-tolerance and envy towards aspiring or initiated disciples of spiritual masters other than his own Guru. As per Lakshmi Nrsimha das, devotees should not take counseling from a disciple of a Guru other than the devotee’s Guru. Rather, should approach his/her god-brother alone and no one else to take spiritual guidance from.

When Vishnukanta das tried explaining him about the broader aspect of taking counseling, taking guidance from a disciple of the god-brother of one’s Guru to cultivate vaishnava qualities and advance in one’s own spiritual sadhana, overcoming anarthas, dealing with difficult situation especially with respect to grihasta ashrama, etc., he was not able to understand or digest this. According to him, a devotee should take counseling from his own god-brothers and not from anyone else. When Vishnukanta das tried to point out the fact that many Maharajs like HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj, HH Niranjan Swami Maharaj, HH Bhakti Vigyana Maharaj, HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj and few others have been encouraging their disciples to learn the counseling from disciples of HH Radhanath Maharaj and in-turn help their god-brothers in their spiritual advancement, he considered that as an offence to their spiritual masters. This is due to his misconception about the whole counseling system.

Other Miscellaneous baseless accusations of Lakshmi Nrsimha das

Lakshmi Nrsimha das had thrown few other baseless accusations against Vishnukanta das which are not even worthy of being explained or clarified. It appears that by putting words in Vishnukanta das's mouth  such as the latter condemning HH Bhakti Vinod Maharaj, Lakshmi Nrsimha das tries to strengthen his case against Vishnukanta das by making a variety of accusations. Although there was a discussion between both of them on a similar topic, Vishnukanta das never made such a remark against Maharaj and Lakshmi Nrismha das has absolutely no evidence for his false claim. Rest of the points need no clarification as any sensible person can understand the irrelevance, illogicality and immaturity in them.

Conclusion:

It has become a trend, unfortunately, for some immature people to write pages after pages criticizing others. The huge amount of time spent in writing criticisms can be effectively utilized by studying Srimad Bhagavatam with Srila Prabhupada's purports which has more than 10,000 pages of pure nectar and listening to the lectures of innumerable faithful followers of Srila Prabhupada elucidating this nectar.

Numerous scriptures proclaim the truth of the greatest danger in listening or propagating criticisms on practicing devotees. It is evident that all the scriptures and realized personalities reiterate the point that the material and spiritual life of those who read, hear and speak criticisms with relish will be destroyed very soon and they will be doomed for ever in eternal hell.

Let us all pray to the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna to give us purity in heart, mind & soul and remove the huge bundle of anarthas that are present from innumerable lifetimes, which is the source for tendency to criticize. If anyone who reads this blog has experienced any discomfort, apologies are offered at feet and forgiveness sought. Hare Krishna.

Vaishnava Qualities explained by HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj - Compiled by Vishnukanta das

Vaishnava Qualities - The Life of an aspiring devotee of Lord Krishna
- by Vishnukanta das

This is a compilation of important points from the books and lectures of HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj.

Srila Prabhupada had always stressed on the importance of cultivating Vaishnava qualities that would please the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna. Following his footsteps, his faithful followers in Iskcon have been propagating this important aspect of devotional service.

HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj explains different qualities that are absolutely necessary for an aspiring devotee to cultivate and serve selflessly. In this article, we shall see many such points.

Maharaj points out in his lecture in Sridham Mayapur, 2008 says:
“One time Prabhupada was sitting with his hand on his head and he was saying, “You don’t know what it is like to run a world-wide spiritual movement. You don’t know.” The inference, with the way that he was holding his head, was that it was a big headache.
Prabhupada was so concerned that we all stay together, that we all work together, that we all cooperate to spread the Krsna conscious movement. We have many, many devotees now and it’s important that the devotees get cared for, and feel cared for.
So part of the function to care for the devotees, is through the diksa guru. He is the manifestation of the Madana Mohana vigraha, the sambanda vigraha. There’s also the help of the many different instructing spiritual masters, or siksa gurus, who is a representative of Govindaji, the abidheya vigraha. The goal of life is Radha-Gopinatha.”
HH Jayapataka Swami

Vyasa Puja Lecture – 2008
Sridham Mayapur

Here, he explains the importance of caring for the devotees, helping them nurture the spiritual qualities that pleases Sri Krishna.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maharaj stresses on the importance of developing qualities such as meekness, humility, being merciful, etc. in his book Godruma Kalpatavi.

“Bhaktivinod Thakura says that one should try to develop good qualities, such as Meekness. One should give credit to others, without desiring aggrandizement or praise.

Another quality appreciated here is Mercy - to help others in Krishna Consciousness. With mercy comes Tolerance. Preaching to the conditioned souls is like being a spiritual doctor, and being intolerant makes it very hard to treat people. One should hate the disease, not the person suffering from the disease.

If we put people into some negative category – ‘These people are like that’ – how can we help them? Srila Prabhupada was very tolerant in facilitating people to chant and associate.”

There are several other very important points explained by Maharaj.
“Lord Chaitanya said that if you want to develop Love for Godhead, you must know “Vaishnava Etiquette” – How to behave with Vaishnavas. That is more important. If we don’t know how to deal properly with Vaishnavas then we commit offenses and eventually we won’t be able to go very close to Krishna … So it is very important to know how deal with, behave with each other properly respecting.
Most of the weeds of devotional service are also dealing with behavior, Kutinaati – diplomatic behavior; play some political situation with someone. Jivahimsa – treating someone very aggressively to harm a person emotionally or physically. So lots of obstacles in our devotional service are there because of bad behavior.
In other case Krishna bhajana means normally practicing with properly dealing with vaishnavas and say that you are going to save a vaishnava who is being attacked by beast or wild animal then if we die trying to save a devotee then we go back to Godhead. Devotees are so dear that they are worth dying for. So if somebody is worth dying for then why would we offend or deal improperly with such a person.”

“When we come to Krishna Consciousness, we have to also become responsible for what we do. If we are a little careful, Krishna will certainly protect us and then if we are careful about making mistakes and ask for forgiveness and avoid repeating in the future, then it is very easy to overcome any mistakes and get back home, Back to Godhead, and get purely Krishna Conscious.
But if we become careless, become impersonal or sahajiya, we just start offending Krishna, offending the Vaishnavas, it’s a dangerous thing. When we come before the deity, we should say that I am a soul surrendered unto you, we pray for our protection from offenses, from our ignorance and the power of the illusory energy.
Srila Prabhupada said that when we do Guru Puja everyday, we beg forgiveness from the Guru for all the offenses we make so that we can continue to make progress. We can’t even count how many offenses we make in a day. But we have to try to become more and more aware of them. If we don’t try to avoid them, then we are responsible.”

“Remembering the instructions of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu to always be engaged in propagating the glories of Krishna’s holy names for the upliftment of the fallen souls is the only shelter for the fallen soul aspiring perfection in this present Age.
The alternative passages are actually traps of Maya which will lead one to fall:
1. Into the pit
Mayavadi Conceptions or
2. Into
Entanglement in Materialistic Activities under the three material modes.
His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has so kindly given the world a spiritual society in which every thought, word and deed can be engaged in Yukta-Vairägya — pure devotional activities offered to Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.”
